Calvin Klein Collection Fall 2026: The Art of Restraint and the Return to Roots (2026)

Calvin Klein Collection Fall 2026: A Study in Restraint and Legacy

Veronica Leoni's Fall 2026 collection for Calvin Klein Collection is a bold statement of restraint and a nod to the brand's rich history. The show, held at The Shed at Hudson Yards, was a carefully curated affair, with rows of red folding chairs lining the runway, creating an intimate atmosphere within the larger space. This setting mirrored the label's broader business strategy, where designer-priced, luxury fashions are sold through global retail partners, while its jeans, underwear, and fragrances have wider distribution, appealing to a global audience.

Leoni's mood boards, filled with Calvin Klein ad campaigns from the late '70s and early '80s, set the tone for the collection. She wanted to challenge the stereotypical perception of Calvin Klein, especially as a child of the '90s. By delving into the brand's foundation and roots, she discovered a world of beauty and elegance that is still relevant today.

The collection showcases sharp minimalism mixed with an obsession with the body, resulting in long, slim tailoring with peek-a-boo backs that expose the iconic Calvin Klein logo's bras, or more prim midi tweed-front dresses with contrasting, slightly sheer backsides. The 'strong sense of hedonism' is evident in the '80s-inspired rolled-up wool jersey 'muscle' T-shirts with skinny grosgrain striped tailored pants, funky, transparent leather trenchcoats, and sleeveless men's power suits.

However, the collection also caters to those who prefer to keep their skin covered. Heightened staples of lean neutral tailoring and outerwear for any occasion, such as everyday leather bombers or sculptural topcoats with exaggerated 'boy scout collars' in colorful shearling, are featured. Occasion wear, including sturdy bonded satin dresses and artisanal takes on slipdresses in velvet or puffy, 3D floral-decorated mesh, further emphasize this idea.

Leoni reintroduced and recreated the original Calvin Klein 1976 runway jean, which she believes should be the focus rather than the billowing, colorful dresses that sometimes literally took away from the collection's overarching flex of restraint. The jean, with its re-edited shape and reintroduced logo, celebrates the brand's lifestyle moment before Brooke Shields' 1980 advertisement and the launch of Calvin Klein Jeans in 1978.

The show was attended by many of the brand's campaign stars, including Blackpink's Jennie and the stars of 'Tell Me Lies,' Grace Van Patten and Jackson White. Their presence brought Leoni's vision of past, present, and future Calvin Klein to life, sparking curiosity and discussion about the brand's legacy and its place in the fashion world.
